Hunting and Training

Sophie is a wonderful hard, fast working hunting dog. Her closer range and responsiveness makes her very easy to handle in the field and she will take on the most challenging terrain. She hunts through cover thick and thin and gladly hunts where we direct. Sophie has tons of natural and instinctive hunting ability. Sophie has a beautiful and intense point and lots of stamina & drive. Sophie naturally honors other dogs' points.

Sophie has also been trained in basic obedience. She is a smart dog and is very attentive when learning new things.

Personality

Having loads of personality, Sophie is the dog to have. She is a very sweet girl that loves to be with people. She is rather silly and comical when she is playing, but she can also be calm, patient, and lovable. Sophie has a dominating personality with other dogs but is submissive towards humans. Sophie is lively and alert- full of spunk. She loves spending time with her family and is an excellent house dog. In the field, Sophie is very focused on the job. She responds extremely well to her handlers and thoroughly enjoys being out there. Sophie is a good and maternal dam.

Sophie’s Quirks
  • Sophie’s favorite thing to do when she’s in the house is to run to the bedrooms (the ones with the made beds are particularly appealing), jump up on the bed, and roll through all of the pillows and pajamas, scattering them everywhere. Sometimes she comes out of a room with boxers around her neck!
  • Sophie loves eating garden-fresh veggies. If she doesn’t pick them herself, she will steal some veggies from someone else.
  • Sophie is a bit mischievous, and she sometimes proudly sneaks socks or rags from their places and plays with them all by herself. Luckily, she does know the "leave it" command.
  • When sod edgings or big weeds are thrown, Sophie will leap into the air, while doing flips and spins, and catch the clumps. Once on the ground again, Sophie will shake all the dirt out of them, all in good fun.

Conformation

Although petite, Sophie is a very correctly built bitch. She has the small size that many hunters are looking for but still has classic English characteristics. She has smooth, fine lines and is very proportional. She has soft but dramatic eyes, which add to her pretty appearance, and she moves out nicely. Sophie's fineness in build is matched by her dainty and lady-like actions. Although finely built, she is a tough, hardy, and muscular bitch, bred for strenuous field work.

Bloodlines

Sophie's bloodlines include Dashing Bondhu (Scinn Amach and Luathas), Gladstone, Bomber, and Wind'em (Cloncurragh, Machad, Dashing, and Advie).

-Rocco's Dashing Morgan-

Introducing the first born of the first litter of Rock Llewellin Setters! Morgan is a great example of what you'll be getting if you make a Rock Llewellin Setter part of your family.

Call Name: Morgan
Whelped: June 18, 2004
Weight: 43 lbs
Height: 20 1/2 inches
Color: White, Black, and Tan Ticked
Certifications: FDSB registered. DNA pending. OFA Hips Good.

Hunting and Training

Morgan is an intense hunting machine that runs hard. This girl has tons of heart and drive and would gladly hunt 'til she drops, if asked to. She pays attention to the other hunting dogs and honors their points. Morgan has a beautiful point that is stylish, intense, and solid. Naturally quartering and working at a medium range, Morgan is easy to manage in the field. She also loves to retrieve, so will be a great all-around dog in the field. During one of her first hunts on wild game at four months old, Morgan honored five points and had one independent point! She has a lot of natural and instinctive hunting ability and is going to be a superior hard working bird dog.

Raised by RLS from the Spring ’04 litter, Morgan has had all of the advantages that RLS provides for their pups. See Litter Care. Morgan was started on a pheasant wing when she was six weeks old, and was one of the first pups to point. She loves carrying things around, she’s very willing to bring us what she’s got, and she releases the objects on command. Her nightly retrieving games since six weeks old and that talent of retrieving-to-hand a big squeaky toy from their pool at nine weeks have certainly paid off. Morgan was started on her obedience at four weeks old and has gradually progressed through the basics.

Personality

Morgan has a wonderful temperament that is playful, sweet, adoring, and laid-back. She shows a lot of patience towards people and thoroughly enjoys any and all attention. Morgan is a pretty comical dog and loves romp around with the other animals and her humans, but she can be extremely mellow when she wants to be. She absolutely loves her family and is very sweet with them all. Morgan is slightly dominating over familiar dogs but not over people. Morgan is not aggressive in her protectiveness, though she will sound off if she doesn’t think something is normal- that is about the only time one ever hears her bark! Morgan is a smart dog and learns things very quickly. In the field, Morgan is all hunting dog and her personality turns to one of purpose, instinct, and focus. She loves hunting and already has a lot of stamina in the extreme high and low temperatures of Eastern Oregon. Her temperament is perfect for the family and field.

Morgan’s quirks
  • She loves to play in water. She will even retrieve rocks at the bottom of their pool by sticking her whole face underwater, forcing her to breathe out through her nose.
  • She's got her sire’s need to put a paw on whoever is loving her- it’s a comfort thing.
  • Morgan loves vegetables that are picked by the dogs from the garden. Some of her favorite veggies are cucumbers.
  • If she’s in an especially happy mood, Morgan will greet people with a pleased, soft growl that’s more like a cat’s purr. She is a very expressive dog.

Conformation

Morgan is an incredibly beautiful Llewellin. She got her dam’s petiteness but also a little of her sire's bulk. Morgan has smooth lines and a proportionate, well-balanced body. Her coat is ticking and feathering out nicely and abundantly. She has soft, bright eyes set in a very handsome head and an overall pretty appearance.

Bloodlines

Morgan's bloodlines are from the majority of the lines, including Dashing Bondhu (Scinn Amach and Luathas), Gladstone, Bomber, Gladstone, Tony O, Blizzard, and Wind'em (Cloncurragh, Machad, Dashing, and Advie)
